MoreSteam is the brainchild of Bill Hathaway. Prior to founding MoreSteam in 2000, Bill spent 13 years in manufacturing, quality and operations management. After 10 years at Ford Motor Co., Hathaway then held executive level operations positions with Raytheon at Amana Home Appliances, and with Mansfield Plumbing Products.
Bill earned an undergraduate finance degree from the University of Notre Dame and graduate degree in business finance and operations from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Peg Pennington joined MoreSteam's executive team in 2018 and provides leadership to all company operations. Previously, Peg was the Executive Director of the Center for Operational Excellence at The Ohio State University. She will continue as an adjunct instructor of the Master of Business Operational Excellence ("MBOE") curriculum at Ohio State's Fisher College of Business. Before joining Ohio State, Peg served in a managerial role at Emerson Network Power.
Peg earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Dayton.
Tim Kelley is responsible for MoreSteam's business and organizational development efforts, as well as its legal matters. Tim joined MoreSteam in January, 2005, and serves as its Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Tim started his career as a manufacturing engineer in General Electric's Aircraft Engine Group before working for 17 years as a patent attorney and partner at the firm of Michael, Best & Friedrich in Milwaukee, WI.
Tim earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a JD (cum laude) from Marquette University.
Kathy Miller promotes process improvement tools and techniques and heads up MoreSteam's European sales efforts. Kathy joined MoreSteam in June, 2007, as the Director of Sales. Prior to that, she worked as a program Developer at the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and in training-related roles in companies related to the food-business, including Johnsonville Sausage and Whole Foods Market.
Kathy earned her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt in 2006. She earned her B.A. from University of Wisconsin, Madison and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
Dr. Lars Maaseidvaag continues to expand the breadth and depth of the MoreSteam curriculum by integrating the learning of Lean tools and concepts with advanced process modeling methods. Lars led the development of Process Playground, a Web-based discrete event simulation program. Before coming to MoreSteam in 2009, he was the Curriculum Director for Accenture/George Group and has also worked in operations research and management consulting.
Lars received a PhD in Operations Research from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Prior to his PhD, Lars earned a M.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering as well as an MBA from The University of Texas in Austin.
Alison Smith is responsible for the organization and management of MoreSteam's Financial and Accounting functions. Prior to joining MoreSteam in 2011, she spent over 10 years working as a Senior Consultant for a local CPA firm where she assisted individuals and small to medium sized business with financial and tax matters.
Alison is a licensed CPA and earned her B.S. in Finance from Youngstown State University.
Dave joined MoreSteam in 2017 in a Business Development role. He started his career in sports journalism and broadcasting before moving into a variety of roles for companies in the Business Support Services, Print and Customer Communication Management industries, most recently with Pitney Bowes Management Services and Novitex Enterprise Solutions. Dave brings over 20 years experience in Quality Management, Operations, Sales, and Solutions Development. He leverages his career experience as he works with MoreSteam clients to design and implement Lean Six Sigma solutions for customers across industries.
Dave achieved his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification in 2007. He earned his B.A. in communications and journalism from the University of Dayton, and his MBA from Indiana University.
Joining MoreSteam in 2006, Ellen Milnes develops marketing and course content support materials. Previously, she was a CI Implementation Team Leader and managed a multi-site call center operation for Columbia Gas Distribution Companies. She also worked in a variety of corporate HR management roles.
Ellen received a B.S. and M.S. in Labor and Human Resources from The Ohio State University.
Gabe Turk serves MoreSteam and its customers in a hybrid marketing, sales, and account management capacity. He assists customers of all types from the planning stages of a deployment to the day-to- day usage of MoreSteam's software and eLearning platforms. Before joining MoreSteam in 2013, Gabe specialized in Digital Marketing and Communications at Pacer International (now XPO Logistics), the Columbus Dispatch, and Spentit Mobile App.
Gabe received his BA in Communication Analysis and Practice from The Ohio State University.
Keegan Donnelly spearheads decisions regarding infrastructure, app security and data security. In addition to security and general IT responsibilities, Keegan leads design and development of TRACtion, MoreSteam's online project management software. Before joining MoreSteam in 2016, Keegan worked on development teams with The Hershey Company and PepsiCo, including responsibilities for supporting Lean Six Sigma processes.
Keegan earned both his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science & Engineering from The Ohio State University.
Lindsay Van Dyne joined the MoreSteam team at the onset of 2014. She spent her first several years at MoreSteam as the eLearning Product Manager, leading the eLearning team through an entire UI transformation and adding several language offerings to the product over her tenure. Now, Lindsay manages the digital marketing side of the business, keeping the website up-to-date and people informed on the happenings of the company on social media.
Lindsay received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a B.S. in Computational Physics and Mathematics from Bethel College.
Dan Swartwout works on legal matters for MoreSteam. He joined MoreSteam in 2021 and currently serves as General Counsel. After graduating from law school, Dan started his career with Jones Day. He later clerked for the Honorable Roger L. Kline in Ohio's Fourth District Court of Appeals. Before joining MoreSteam, Dan worked as both a solo practitioner and a freelance attorney.
Dan earned a B.A. in Communications from The Ohio State University (magna cum laude) and a J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law (summa cum laude). While in law school, Dan served as Note and Comment Editor for the Ohio State Law Journal.
Kathy Siegrist works with clients, partners, and vendors within the customer accounting and financial reporting processes. Prior to joining MoreSteam in 2020, Kathy held a variety of finance leadership roles over a 10-year period at Nationwide Insurance. Her earlier career experience includes time spent as a senior financial analyst at Borden and a staff auditor with Ernst & Young.
Kathy is a licensed CPA and earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati.
Nick joined the Moresteam team in April 2022. As a Manager of Business Development, Nick's responsibilities include understanding customer deployment needs and helping them modernize their training using MoreSteam technology. Nick has held previous positions as an Information Systems Manager, Operations Improvement Specialist, and Inventory Manager. He has extensive experience in ERP management, material management, and inventory control.
Nick graduated from Methodist University in 2001 with a B.S in Business Administration and Marketing.
Ashley joined the eLearning team in October, 2020. Ashley lends her expertise to fine-tuning the alignment of our English and non-English courses. She manages translation projects and assists with Quality Assurance in our training courses. Prior to joining MoreSteam, Ashley was a technical support lead for Spectrum Business.
Ashley completed coursework at Austin Community College.
Avi Madnick joined the development team in the spring of 2021. His development contributions have been across multiple MoreSteam products. Prior to MoreSteam, Avi gained experience as an undergraduate researcher at Binghamton University, where he investigated various distributed machine learning topologies. Avi also TA'ed for a computer-science focused technical writing course and was an avid participant in the university's Waste Reduction & Recycling Initiative.
Avi earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Binghamton University.
Our MoreSteam staff welcomed Brian Bross to the eLearning development team in 2020. Previously, Brian held a very different type of development and delivery role ‐ that of an Executive Chef. He developed, tested, and implemented menus for a variety of upscale restaurant and catering operations across the country.
After 20 years, he decided to make a career change and return to his computer engineering education. Brian supplemented his earlier Ohio University coursework by completing the We Can Code IT Coding Bootcamp in 2019.
Devon Vanstone began working as a developer for the eLearning team in early 2019. Since then, Devon has led the launch of a new simulation, Gridlock, and contributed to the advancement of TRACtion's capabilities. Prior to MoreSteam while studying at The Ohio State University, he served as a Data Specialist and completed a variety of projects including True-RNG for Redaction Database Service, Super Mario Brothers Clone, and an IBM Watson Assisted Bartending App.
Devon was a member of Ohio State's Honors Program and earned his B.S. in Computer Science with minors in History, Political Science, and Philosophy.
We welcomed Emily to the MoreSteam team in August of 2021. Emily comes to us with a wide range of skills and knowledge, including a background in advertising and marketing for both print and web mediums. Her experiences in design and front-end web development aid MoreSteam in strategizing straightforward user experiences.
Emily graduated with academic honors from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Erin Valusek joined MoreSteam in January of 2022. She is responsible for assisting the marketing team with digital written content creation. Erin has a background in freelance writing across a wide variety of industries. Previously, she managed a team of assistant writers, overseeing their projects, outlining and editing their work, and assigning out work as needed.
Erin graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in Film Production.
Karina Dubé began working at MoreSteam in 2014, developing practice exercises with the eLearning team. She now assists with user-design experience and front-end development as part of the EngineRoom development team. Before coming to MoreSteam, Karina worked as a student developer in the Academic Technology Lab at the University of Notre Dame.
Karina received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and an MSc in Interactive Media from University College Cork, Ireland.
Katie Wenner performs quality assurance and user-acceptance testing for the MoreSteam product line. She is also part of the graphics team and develops graphics, interactive exercises, and videos for MoreSteam's full product portfolio. Katie joined MoreSteam initially as a customer support administrator in 2011.
Katie earned a B.A. in Film Studies from The Ohio State University.
Lindsey joined the MoreSteam team in 2019 as a member of the eLearning development team. During her time in eLearning, she aided in the advancement of our non-English offerings. Since then, Lindsey has become a lead developer for the administrative functionality of the company's online courses, building an entire new customizable reporting engine. Before joining MoreSteam, she worked in customer service at a credit union in Honolulu and later moved to Columbus, OH to work as a pharmacy technician.
Lindsey completed coursework at Franklin University and later graduated from the We Can Code IT bootcamp certificate program.
Lisa Rees joined the development team in 2019 and has contributed to multiple MoreSteam products. She led the charge on Coach View, a training dashboard for administrators, and is instrumental in maintaining our simulations. Before coming to MoreSteam, she worked as a Search Engine Analyst performing user testing and data evaluation for some of the world's largest internet search engine companies.
Lisa earned a B.S. in Conservation Biology from Brigham Young University with a minor in English, and completed a software development bootcamp with We Can Code IT.
M. Andrew Esker joined the development team on a full-time basis in 2018. Andrew spent his first two years as a member of the TRACtion team before shifting his focus to the development of EngineRoom. Prior to acquiring his degree, he interned at MoreSteam during the last two years of his curriculum with both the TRACtion and eLearning teams. Andrew previously served in the IT Department at Otterbein University providing technical support to staff and students.
Andrew earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Otterbein University where he was the recipient of multiple academic awards.
Michael manages instructional content at MoreSteam, working to ensure that lessons are clear, memorable, relevant, and filled with high-impact practice. Prior to joining MoreSteam, he spent seven years teaching middle school students at YES Prep Northside in Houston, Texas, and KIPP Columbus Middle in Columbus, Ohio. He taught classes covering a broad range of subjects including reading, social studies, and science. Both of these charter school systems were founded on data-driven process improvement principles.
Michael received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame through the University's Program of Liberal Studies.
Nick LaRosa began working for MoreSteam in 2014, lending his talents to both the eLearning and EngineRoom development teams. He currently focuses his efforts on the back-end development of EngineRoom. In addition to his role with MoreSteam, Nick also serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 14th Marine Regiment.
Nick earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame.
Rayyan re-joined the MoreSteam team at the end of 2020 after completing two software engineering internships and serving as the lead mobile developer on a student-built app called Eventurely. He is passionate about building software that improves peoples' lives and looks forward to applying his talents to help organizations improve their business results.
Rayyan earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame where he also served as a Teaching Assistant for a Logic Design course in the College of Engineering.
Sebastian joined MoreSteam as a full-time software developer in the summer of 2020, after impressing the team during an internship with the company one year prior. In addition to his time at MoreSteam, he also has development experience from his time at the University of Notre Dame, where he worked on large projects in his Databases and Compilers courses while earning his B.S. in Computer Science.
During his collegiate career, Sebastian received multiple academic honors and was also a four-year member of Notre Dame's Ultimate Frisbee team.
Sekou joined the MoreSteam development team in 2021. While earning his degree, Sekou gained experience through multiple internships, including a Software Engineering internship at Nationwide. He also spent 16 months interning as a Web Developer for the Ibel Agency.
Sekou earned his B.S. in Geographic & Information Science from The Ohio State University. He also earned an Associate's Degree in Computer Programming and System Analytics from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
Smita Skrivanek was MoreSteam's first full-time employee on the payroll. Currently, she leads research and development for EngineRoom, including its patented hypothesis testing and DOE wizard elements. Throughout her tenure, she has been responsible for building curriculum, coaching, reviewing projects, and assisting students with their advanced statistical questions. Smita previously taught college-level Statistics courses.
Smita has a Masters in Statistics from The Ohio State University and an MBA from Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
Trevor joined the MoreSteam development team in 2021. While earning his degree, Trevor gained experience through an internship with ARCOS, where he worked on the Quality Assurance team to validate software functionality. He also honed his technical skills as a member of the Collaborative Software Development Club.
Trevor earned his B.S. in Computer & Information Science from The Ohio State University.
Trica Ryckman moved to the eLearning development team in March of 2015. Having been with MoreSteam since 2006, Trica previously held roles on the Sales and Marketing team as well as Customer Support Services. She came to MoreSteam with 10 years of experience in educational sales and accounting at a software company, and also has elementary and secondary teaching experience.
Trica earned an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University.
Tyler Cummings joined the EngineRoom development team in 2016 after having completed an internship at SwoopIn, a startup for a crowdsourced event creation app. At SwoopIn, he developed a web platform for their mobile location-based networking application.
Tyler received a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame. While at UND, Tyler was a four-year member of the marching and concert bands where he utilized his leadership and musical abilities. He continues to refine his skills on his Saxophone in his free time.
Xander Hathaway joined the EngineRoom development team in August of 2021, placing an emphasis on DevOps and engineering infrastructure. Prior to joining MoreSteam, he worked in consulting as a senior software architect helping to design and implement cloud-based software solutions for numerous clients.
Xander earned a Master's of Information and Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame.
Chelsey Cassady joined MoreSteam in 2016 with responsibility for customer enrollment and first-level support. She also handles a variety of administrative functions for the company. Prior to joining MoreSteam, she worked as a Personal Banker and Lead Customer Service Representative at a local bank where she conducted quarterly audits and led employee engagement activities in her free time.
Chelsey earned a B.S. in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University.
Joining MoreSteam in 2011, Regina Kenney works with customers to help them get the most from their MoreSteam courses. She previously worked in manufacturing facilities managing Kanban assembly lines and also has experience working in purchasing and sales organizations.
While competing as a NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Athlete, Regina graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's School of Business with a degree in Production and Operations Management.
