DESIGNING AN EXPERIMENT TO SAVE THE KINGDOM

Background

The scene is the North of England.

The year is 1246.

Dark clouds are swirling.

Good King Sigma's kingdom is under attack by a warrior tribe called the Varians from the mountains of the north. The Varians have been terrorizing the population, using hit and run tactics to burn crops, steal livestock, and destroy peaceful villages. Over the last months, the Varians have exacted a very heavy toll, and now King Sigma has amassed a mighty army to rid the kingdom of this scourge.

Attacking from both east and west in a coordinated campaign, King Sigma's knights have forced the Varians to retreat to the source of their only refuge, Castle Dunbad at the foot of Mt. Losis, where the Varians are under siege by the King's armies.

In eight sieges over the last 50 years, the mighty castle has never been conquered. Now, however, the balance of power has been shifted by a new and awesome siege weapon - the Trebuchet.
