Happy New Year! With 2010 speeding ahead, it's worth taking a moment to look back on the accomplishments of 2009.
New e-Learning Course Options
In 2009, MoreSteam announced the
public availability of our Lean Six Sigma Transactional Green Belt
course. The course had previously been available only to corporate customers. MoreSteam also released German and French language versions of our Green belt course. And don't forget the very popular "high seas" Pirate-language versions of all of our online courses!
e-Learning Content Updates
MoreSteam continues its focus on course content and usability. Updates in the last year included:
- New simulation for Design of Experiments
sessions
- New DOE lesson added – Power and Sample Size for DOE
- New DOE lesson added covering experimental design selection
- New interactive 5-S practice exercise
- New Master Black Belt video on the define tollgate review lesson
- Central Template Directory
- Updated course functionality (graphic updates, link tracking, outside research “flags”, and more)
Product Releases
In 2009, MoreSteam released new versions of EngineRoom® (5.0), the Microsoft® Excel®-based data analysis package, and TRACtion® (3.0), the Web-based product tracking and management tool. Both upgrades are available free to current customers and represent
strong advances in usability and functionality.
We also improved SigmaBrew InBox™, the virtual workflow Lean office simulation, and presented demos throughout the US, including at the Fox Cities Operational Excellence Association, the Lean Educator Conference, and 7th Annual Lean Network Conference for Honda suppliers.
The Blended Learning Playbook
In October, MoreSteam published The Blended Learning Playbook, the first and only practical guide dealing with the design and implementation of a Blended Learning model for Lean Six Sigma training. We compiled the Playbook as a practical guide for deployments new to Blended Learning and for deployments looking for advice on how to improve their existing training model. We also produced an abridged version of the book, which is available as a free download from our Web site.
Online Resources
Throughout 2009, we continued adding to our collection of free online Lean Six Sigma resources. We dramatically increased the content in SigmaPedia, the online Lean Six Sigma encyclopedia, which now offers over 400 terms and definitions. We also added new Lean Six Sigma white papers, live and recorded presentations, and simulation resources.
Building and Supporting Communities
MoreSteam continues to support communities of practice, where Lean Six Sigma and process improvement practitioners can meet, network, and learn. In May of 2009, we helped to sponsor off the inaugural event of the new Nashville Six Sigma Community, and we continue to support their events and provide them with a Web portal. If you're interested in developing a learning and networking community in your region or city, let us know how we can help!
